Youth Education and
Employment Services

WCCS's Youth Education and Employment Services program (YEES) is offered in cooperation with the Federal Workforce Investment Act, Sonoma County Human Services Department and a consortium of agencies including Petaluma People Services Center, Social Advocates for Youth, Sonoma County Adult and Youth Development and Circuit Rider Productions

Generation Success assists eligible youth to become successful community members through identifying and achieving career and educational goals, case management support and assistance with individual needs such as housing, food, counseling and/or parenting skills.  The program provides individualized assistance with issues such as academic achievement, employability skills, life skills and leadership development. Youth who participate in the program work one-on-one with an individual case manager, who acts as a personal coach, helping them to identify and address personal needs, set goals and be successful.

Services for youth who participate in the YEES programs may include the following opportunities:

  • Work readiness workshops on such topics as resume writing, interview skills, budgeting, the hidden job market, being a team member and time management.
  • Community and work-based learning experiences such as job shadows, wilderness experiences, and local community clean-up projects, for example.
  • Assistance in applying to colleges or trade schools with applications, financial aid, scholarships and housing.
  • Academic tutoring including GED or CAHSEE preparation.
  • Referrals to other resources as needed. For example, West County Health Center, Independent Living Skills program, Santa Rosa Junior College for GED preparation, food boxes, counseling and diversion, Drug Abuse Alternatives Center, California Parenting Institute, YWCA and the Volunteer Center.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Serves youth 14 to 21 years of age
  • Requires low income and/or special education/study skills student
  • One or more barriers to success
