Emergency Services

WCCS provides services to local residents in “crisis” situations. While resources are somewhat limited we are still able to meet certain critical needs. Current services include:

Food Pantry

Every Thursday afternoon staff distributes nutritious “tailor made” food boxes to needy community residents. Clients on staff caseloads may receive additional boxes as needed. Boxes must be ordered Thursday mornings for pick-up after 2 PM.

Rental Assistance

Every Monday afternoon at 3 PM an information session is available to local citizens who need assistance with rental housing. At that time eligibility requirements are outlined and forms are distributed. We are not able to identify local rental units but may be able to assist with initial deposits or rent. Priority criteria include elderly, single parent’s families and disabled.

Disaster Relief

WCCS has become one of the focal points for citizens affected by flood conditions. We work closely with all County agencies in addition to the Red Cross and Salvation Army. Depending on available financial resources we can provide limited temporary shelter, food, blankets, and sometimes replacement household items. We assist in coordinating clean-up crews and have equipment available to loan such as pressure washers and brooms/shovels. We are currently organizing local resource agencies for coordinated training and information sharing so response time to disaster conditions is reduced.
