Incorporated in 1975 as a public benefit, 501(c)(3) community based organization, WCCS has been providing numerous human and social services to a wide range of individuals and groups in western Sonoma County for more than 30 years. A unique and vibrant organization, WCCS is the only multi-services agency in the entire western Sonoma County area and we continually strive to provide focused, quality assistance that meets the needs of our local community.
WCCS is separated into six inter-related programs: Administration & Support, Counseling and Prevention, Adult and Youth Employment, Russian River Senior Resource Center, After School Programs and Emergency Services.
Services are provided at five sites, three located in Guerneville and two located in Sebastopol.
Main administration is housed at the downtown Guerneville office where we also provide counseling and family support, emergency services and house After School Program administration. Our Russian River Senior Resource Center, also located in Guerneville, provides a multitude of services to our senior population. Also in Guerneville, the Russian River Empowerment Center, a mental health self-help center, provides peer counseling, mental health and wellness support groups and arts and crafts in a safe setting.
In Sebastopol we provide youth career development and rehabilitation employment assistance in our offices on the Analy High School campus. Our Family Services Center in Sebastopol provides adult employment assistance to SonomaWORKS clients, youth diversion and counseling to youth and families.
When the lower Russian River area flooded during the winter of 2005-6, WCCS was instrumental in setting up emergency services for affected residents, securing needed resources such as food vouchers from Safeway, sleeping bags and blankets, and free accommodations at local motels. WCCS has a long tradition of stepping in wherever we see an opportunity to strengthen, assist or heal our community.
